Beckside Stables

a cosy retreat, sleeps 1-2

We have lovingly restored a former working stable and tack-room, into an unusual and charming little retreat, or snug, for walkers, cyclists and visitors passing through. A short 15 min walk to the village of Cartmel, this is the ideal place to stay for anyone wanting to enjoy Cartmel Races, 2* restaurant L’Enclume, explore the South Lakes, or simply in need of a spell of slow-living in luxury seclusion; a digital detox and re-connection with the natural world.

You will be sleeping where the stable boy slept 100 years ago. Now, it is a beautifully simple and relaxing space. On the ground floor there is the original open fire; a comfy leather sofa and arm chair bask in it’s glow. Also downstairs you will find a TV and a compendium of old fashioned games; a fridge stocked with milk, juice, yoghurts and water; a kettle, a cupboard with cups, glasses, bowls, cutlery, tea/coffee/cookies, cereals, fruit; a table and 2 chairs. This is not a kitchen, there are no cooking facilities. A full set of Wainright’s Guides, local maps and books will help you plan your days. On a mezzanine level above is an extremely comfy king size bed with tempur mattress, where you can lay in bed listening to the crackle of the fire below, and watching the stars through the velux above. It’s a reduced height space, and accessed by a wooden ladder. LED coloured lights help create a unique atmosphere.

Outside the stable is your shower room and toilet. These rooms are not heated, but the shower is a large and modern cubicle, with an electric shower. It’s only a few metres away, and well lit, but it is a step outside your cosy retreat. There is no plumbing in the stable, but an old fashioned water-filled jug and bowl. We do your washing up, a tap outside the stable will fill your kettle. The beautiful spacious Jammy patch grounds can be explored and enjoyed, and the campers’ tea room provides another large room for you to use, and access wifi.

This an extremely cosy and romantic space, where you will feel the stresses and strains drain away. sleeps 2. No Dogs.

NBon the days that we have Jammy Campers these facilities will be shared with the campers. The washrooms are kept spotlessly clean. This compromise on camping days is reflected in the cheap price for a luxury sleep.
