Thing to do
Visit Cartmel
Located just 1 mile away from Cartmel village, home to Simon Rogan’s award-winning restaurant L’Enclume, The Jammy Patch is surrounded by an abundance of walks and natural beauty – Lake Windermere and the Lake District National Park are just 5 miles away and both are the perfect place to walk, cycle, picnic, and wild swim.
Cartmel Village sits in the quiet southern bit of the Lake District, wrapped in rolling hills and farmland. It’s tiny, just a handful of great pubs & restaurants, stone cottages, winding lanes, and that famous twelfth-century Priory with its stunning choir stalls and medieval stained glass. Buy some famous Sticky Toffee Pudding at Cartmel Village Shop—made by the same family since nineteen sixty eight. Or try a selection of artisan cheeses from Cartmel Cheese, washed down with a glass of fine wine from Oscars. Nearby, the River Eea trickles through, and there’s a racecourse just outside town, with race meetings through the summer. Less touristy than Bowness or Ambleside, so you get a real sense of Cumbrian life. Perfect for a picturesque stroll, a pint at the Royal Oak, and a roast dinner at The Cavendish Arms. Fancy a visit?
